Jess Curl

Hello! My name is Jess, I am one of the owners of Project Better. My partner and I opened this space in early 2018 and it was been mostly a joy ride ever since. (minus that whole covid thing, lol) I love the space we’ve created, the team we’ve built and the community we have. I feel so grateful that PB has attracted such awesome humans.

A little about me, I was born and raised in a small town in the US but have been living here in Australia for over 10 years now. I was an athlete my entire life from golf to basketball to swimming and everything in between - I love sport and competition. Soccer is actually what brought me to Australia. After playing collegiately in the US I came over and played for South Melbourne for a few years. I loved Melbourne so much I never left, haha.

I have three wonderful doggos, Tilly, Chunky and Steve. They are the BEST and they are also the main reason PB is a dog friendly gym.

My philosophy around coaching has always been to lead with love and compassion. Holding space for people when they are on their health journey to build trust, to give them the tools to feel their best and to be the support they need along this path.

Current Training Journey:

I recently just ran my first marathon, which was a very humbling experience, lol. I do love running but I also I love throwing weights around as well, being strong is important to me. I’ve got a few Crossfit comps in the near future and a 50k trail event coming up in September.

I love training and moving my body and sweating my face off. I think doing hard things make us stronger in all other areas of our lives - which I why I am always looking for a challenge!

Fun Fact:

When I go for my runs, I love listening to books in the YA genre… think Hunger Games, Divergent, Harry Potter…
